Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- He shall immediately and directly inform the Chief Engineer whenever an environmental system is improperly functioning and shall always strive to ensure that all environmental systems within his department are operated and maintained to A.B.C. (Above and Beyond Compliance) standards.
Area of responsibility for each 2nd Engineer will be delegated by the Chief Engineer. Minimum of the following systems should be covered, where applicable:
- · Watchkeeping Duties.
- · Main Diesel engines with systems and equipment.
- · Auxiliary Diesel engines with belonging systems and equipment
- · Boiler plant, with related pumps, pipes, valves, heat exchangers, and sludge burning devices.
- · Evaporators and Reverse Osmosis plant with associated equipment, including, but not limited to pumps, pipes, valves, softening filters and mineralizers.
- · All chemical dosage plants for fresh and sea water.
- · Analyses and dosage of boiler water, cooling water, and heeling tank systems.
- · Soot Blowing / Infrasonic system.
- · Diesel-oil, fuel oil, gas-oil, and lubrication-oil systems. Pre-heaters, separators, cleaning equipment, and transfer pumps.
- · Bilge, Ballast and Heeling systems with related pipes and valves.
- · Emergency diesels with related systems.
- · Steering gear and related systems.
- · Stabilizer systems.
- · Propeller shaft and stern tube with related systems and equipment.
- · Starting air compressors and receivers
- · Working air compressors and receivers.
- · Instrument air compressors and receivers.
- · Air Compressors for Bow Thrusters.
- · Emergency air compressor and receiver.
- · Watertight doors with hydraulic systems.
- · Shell-gates with hydraulic systems (including tender embarkation platforms).
- · Lifeboats, tender boats, and rescue boats’ engines

- · Bow Thrusters with belonging hydraulic installation.
- · Pneumatic valves, with belonging systems.
- · All “Elysator” systems
- · Azipod and Fixipod lubricating oil systems including Steering Gear and associated hydraulic systems.

Language Requirements:
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- In charge of laundry and eco‐friendly dry‐cleaning operations including efficient workflow and maximum machine utilization, while ensuring high level of employee productivity and always maintaining a safe work area.
- Provide quality output of linen, which are clean, fresh, and neatly pressed. This includes stateroom linen (sheets, pillowcases, towels, etc.), food & beverage linen (napkins and tablecloths), guest laundry, team member/officer uniforms and laundry, pool towels, spa linen and towels, etc.
- Visit and inspect dining rooms and staterooms to monitor quality of linen in place.
- Establish and maintain quality control for linen, with rejection points, rewash and conversion of linen.
- Effective supervision of laundry personnel, providing on‐going guidance, coaching, on‐the‐job training and correction with respect to operational requirements, policies, procedures, safe operation of equipment and environmental protection.
- At the beginning of each day, conduct thorough walkthrough of the main laundry, linen rooms and dry‐cleaning areas, checking each machine to ensure all are in good working condition, paying attention to any operational, safety, hazardous materials storage, or environmental concerns.
- Ensure that laundry areas including deck heads, dryers (on top, beside, behind, inside tumbler and inside lower compartment) and machinery and surrounding areas are free of lint and any other obstructions.
- Maintain accurate and up‐to‐date recordkeeping to include but not limited to: Flatwork Ironer Checklist, Laundry Lint Cleaning and Lint Removal System Checklist, Daily Wash Wheel Control, Daily Dryer Control and Monthly Laundry Report, designated washer temperature logs, and all other records as required.
- Report laundry items to be repaired / maintained. Create job orders, make notations on laundry journal, and follow up on all job orders to ensure satisfactory completion.
- Complete and submit weekly / on‐time requisition(s) for chemicals and other supplies.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of all laundry chemicals and supplies.
- Have conversations with all direct reports, giving feedback on performance, inspection findings and development opportunities. Log relevant conversations to assist in preparing their performance evaluation.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Preferred college or university degree / diploma in hospitality management related field preferred. International equivalent suffices.
- Minimum 3‐years leadership experience in the hospitality industry / commercial laundry operations showing progressive growth in responsibility. Preferred 1‐ year of shipboard experience within the Housekeeping / Laundry Services environment.
- Able to work well and communicate effectively with both shipboard personnel and shoreside stakeholders.
- Ability to multi‐task and handle constantly changing priorities.
- Leadership, training, and organizational skills demonstrated through experience.
- Basic knowledge of public health and sanitation protocols.
- Basic knowledge on reading and understanding MSDS, SDS and product labels and providing guidance thereafter on use of those products.
- Working knowledge of computers and the ability to navigate within a variety of software programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Preferred experience with shipboard/hospitality related software, including but not limited to, AIMS, iInspector, Micros/Fidelio, Crunchtime, etc.

Essential Duties
- Assists the Rooms Division Manager in managing the Housekeeping team and shares the responsibility for the front of house operation. Responsible for all Suite Ambassador and In-Suite Dining services.
- Creates positive, memorable experiences for guests and anticipates their needs and expectations through an interactive communication. Ensures that all guest concerns, enquiries and requests are recorded, followed up and addressed immediately, guarantying total guest satisfaction.
- Takes the initiative to interact with Ladies and Gentlemen to identify their needs and ensures all expectations are met and exceeded within the parameters of the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Oversees In-Suite Dining services and ensure complete guest satisfaction. Monitors and verifies in the system and with the Suite Ambassadors ensures that In-Suite Dining orders are delivered without delay as per guest requests, in particular for breakfast orders.
- Assists in managing all operating budgets and administrative tasks for the department and supports in the review of all future orders for consumables and housekeeping OS&E. Participates in the creation of fiscal year budgets where requested.
- Enforces strict Public Health practices and follows United States Public Health (USPH) standards within the housekeeping department at all times, including but not limited to cleaning and maintenance, temperature recording, store organization, self-inspections and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Takes the lead in implementing departmental Public Health Inspections as needed to stay ahead of all Public Health compliance.
- Assists in managing the Outbreak Prevention and Response Plan (OPRP) for the Housekeeping department and supports the Rooms Division Manager in case of an outbreak. Ensures that all training for Public Health is constantly embraced throughout all elements of the operation.
- Executes physical inventories and inventory spot checks with the housekeeping as instructed by the Rooms Division Manager and as per inventory schedule. Strives to minimize inventory levels while ensuring sufficient stock levels to operate the department smooth. Consistently works with the team to minimize waste, breakage and wear and tear.
- Inspects all suites and front of house areas as instructed by the Rooms Division Manager frequently conducting internal Brand Standard Audits (BSA), Forbes Audits, and ensures all areas of responsibility are compliant with Standard Operating Procedures and in accordance with marine safety regulations.
- Responds to problems quickly and efficiently with a problem solving, proactive attitude. Communicates and records any challenges to the supervisor and escalates conflict resolution as necessary.
- Cooperates with the Laundry Manager to ensure impeccable and efficient laundry services for all guests. Ensures accurate charges as well as that claims are handled to the utmost guest satisfaction.
- Partners with onboard Guest Services, Finance and Human Resources to address any damages to guest and employee clothing that occurred during the laundry service. Escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the supervisor and ensures incidents are reported in the Guest Log.
- Assists the Rooms Division Manager in managing permanent and temporary floral arrangements in Suites.
- Creates and monitors maintenance requests for non-functional equipment and any other topics affecting the housekeeping and laundry operation and ensures problems are resolved in an acceptable timeframe and escalates delays to the supervisor.
- Ensures the entire team is aware of incoming guest preferences, loyalty status (Marriott BonVoy), VIP status, Gift Orders and any other voyage related information.
- Assists with random spot checks of all suites on embarkation day as per onboard procedures and routing schedule.
- Ensures that guest preferences are delivered and executed as recorded in the CRM system. Executes changes to recorded preferences or enters new preferences as per guests request and according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
People Management

Qualifications

- Very good knowledge and experience in Housekeeping and In-Suite Dining operations. Advanced understanding of processes and procedures in the Cruise and Hotel industry, including inventory management, operating budgets and audit procedures.
- Very good knowledge and experience in Public Health rules and regulations related to United States Public Health (USPH) and Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
- Sound knowledge of Property Management, Point Of Sales and Inventory Management systems in the capacity of a power user. Advanced knowledge of guest facing systems such as interactive television and in suite tablets is preferred.
- Previous experience onboard a luxury cruise ship as an Ambassador Manager or similar role is required. In addition, experience in a luxury hospitality environment is preferred.
- Very good knowledge of MS Office package or similar applications in particular Excel.
